Mind Force Society & Institute for Complexity Studies

The Mind Force Society is a scientific society that thrives on the diversity and inclusivity of its members. Comprising academics, researchers, scholars, and interested stakeholders, we have been actively engaged in complexity sciences for years at both national and international levels. Our commitment to interdisciplinary study, research, and intervention activities on complex systems is a testament to our belief in the power of collaboration.

The Mind Force Society is a non-profit association dedicated to scientific research, education, and the promotion of cultural, psychological, social, and healthcare activities within the framework of complex systems. It is a cultural and scientific institution that studies complex systems in all their manifestations — extending across all sciences and disciplines of complexity, including social, cultural, economic, physical-mathematical, and biomedical sciences.

Central to our work is an interest in the internal functioning of the mind/body system and its network of interrelations with the environment. This bio-psycho-social interdependence — the mutual dependence of all life processes — constitutes the nature of all ecological relationships.

The Mind Force Society has national and international research activities and institutional collaborations with prestigious institutions including the University of Siena, the University of Amsterdam, the University of Chieti-Pescara, ENEA, MIUR, and the Society for Psychotherapy Research (SPR). The section of the Mind Force Society specifically devoted to scientific research is called the Institute for Complexity Studies.

Matter, mind, brain, body and society emerge from the same stream in the complexity of nature: we call this energy ‘Mind Force’. Connections of genes and molecules, neurons and hormones, thinking and language, people and organizations form a continuous flow of synchronized interactions.

Interactions between networks across many scales — from molecular to biological to cognitive and social — sustain their scaling and cascading. Mind Force is a hyper network of networks. We can recognize in this hyper network the landscapes and fields of Mind Force.

The empowerment of individuals by Mind Force comes from integrating multiple perspectives and multiple complementary disciplines: simplicity and complexity are complementary moments of our knowledge of each other, the world, and ourselves.

Resources for research follow an integrated path toward deeper knowledge through multidisciplinary collaboration. Science is lauded by societies beyond the circle of experts and recognized as a natural means of expanding lives, when it stays within the stream of Mind Force. This flow sustains the inner strength and growth of individuals and communities.

Origins

The Mind Force Society was founded in September 2008 at the Certosa di Pontignano, University of Siena, Tuscany, during the first Tuscan Summer Academy — ConVersActions on the Matrix of Human Evolution. This inaugural gathering brought together leading scholars from neuroscience, psychoanalysis, cognitive science, biophysics, physics, and the arts to explore the emerging integrated science of mind, body, and complexity.

The society is legally registered in Italy (Business Registration Number: 91022330533) and with the European Commission Participant Portal (PIC: 934103405) as a non-profit scientific organization.
